Tom and Freddie pulled up to a small one story home in the suburbs. They got out and went to the door. Ringing the bell soon brought a young man to the door.

“Yeah, you want something?”

“Yes, are you Benny Aaronson?”

“You a cop?”

“No, just some concerned citizens looking into what happened to Les McCoy. You were friends with him, correct?”

“Yeah, we hung out together. He was a good guy.”

“Could you tell us what happened the day he exploded?”

“You get right to the point, don’t you? Who are you again?”

Tom reached into his pocket and pulled out a business card. He handed it over to Benny. ‘We’re The Good Guys.”

Benny looked at the card. “Hey, I’ve heard of you. You guys help out when weird stuff happens.”

“That is generally the definition of being a good guy – helping out when needed.”

“So you think something weird was going on with Les?”

“Most people don’t consider catching on fire and then exploding exactly part of their daily routine. What were you doing when it occurred?”

“Nothing out of the ordinary. Just playing some football in the park.”

“Did Les seem OK?”

“Yeah, right up until it happened. He was fine. Come to think of it, he was sweating a lot.”

“He must have needed plenty to drink if he was sweating a lot. Tell me, was he drinking a lot of Zooper Energy Drink?”

“Yeah, he was. Zooper makes you super, you know? The guy practically inhaled it. He was a part of their Ambassador program.”

“They have an Ambassador program?”

“Yeah, when guys like Les drink a lot of it, they can sign up for the Ambassador program. They get free cans of the drink. I guess it wins for everyone. Les got free cans of Zooper, and the company gets some free publicity. Do you think the Zooper has something to do with Les’s death?”

“It’s just a theory right now. We don’t know anything for sure. Thank you for your time. You’ve been very helpful.”

“Yeah, no problem man. You should start a lawsuit against the company that makes the stuff or something.”

“If it turns out that they are behind all this we’ll be sure to make them pay to the fullest extent of the law.”

As they got in the car Freddie asked “Do you think Clay was part of the Zooper Ambassador program too?”

“Seems likely that he was. If he had a lot of it in his apartment then if he wasn’t he was well on his way to being one. We should stop by the store and pick up a few cans.”
