“All right you two, get down on the ground, now!”
Tom raised his hands and turned around. Freddie followed suit. “The cavalry, right?”
Tom stared at the officer. “We are the ones that called in this matter. We aren’t the people you are looking for.” He gave a small wave of his hand.
“Then just who the hell am I looking for? There isn’t anyone else around. Best I can tell, you two just tried to blow up the city water treatment plant.”
Freddie looked at Tom. “I don’t think your Jedi powers are working.”
Tom answered back. “It was worth a shot.”
Freddie spoke up. “If you’ll follow me, I can show you one of the people responsible. I fought one of them and chained them to a railing on the catwalk over there.” Freddie pointed in the direction of the catwalk where he had left the reptiloid.
The officer lowered his weapon. “OK, show me. No funny business.”
Freddie lead the way to the catwalk. When they arrived, the chain was still wrapped around the railing, but no reptiloid was bound by it. A small amount of viscous green liquid was smeared across the chain and railings, and a small pool of it was on the catwalk.
“Well, they were here. It looks like they got away with the rest of their gang.”
“Yeah, right. And what did they do, fly away?”
“Well, actually…” Freddie started.
“They ran away.” Tom interrupted. “They were obviously terrorist trying to poison the city water supply with the chemicals in the tanker. We interrupted their operation but they have already dumped an unknown amount of the chemical into the outflow pump. When we defeated them they ran off but not before setting a timer to blow up the truck.”
“A likely story. In the meantime, I’m taking you two in.”

Later at the police station, Tom and Freddie were put in separate rooms. A series of different officers came in and grilled them, but the two stuck to their story. Finally, Lieutenant Dan Taylor came in.
“Well, if this just ain’t the perfect end to an already crappy day. Clary, what are you doing in my station house?”
“I’m here because you’re officer mistakenly thought my partner and I blew up the city water treatment plant, when we were the ones who stopped the people who did.”
“Clary, I’m getting tired of your Boy Scout antics. I’ve never been able to pin you down on anything yet, but someday you’ll screw up and I’ll be there when you do. in fact, I think today is that day.”
“Lieutenant, if you don’t listen to me your going to have a lot more exploding people on your hands. The terrorist were dumping a formula in the water supply that causes spontaneous human combustion. The same formula was in the Zooper Energy Drinks. People who drank too much of it overdosed on the formula and exploded. The president of the company, V.E Gully, was in on it.”
