“Oh shit!” Erlenmeyer fell backwards as the nightmarish creature emerged from the portal.

Terror and amazement swirled through Dr. Hartmann’s mind at the creature before him. Not only had the experiment worked, and proven that parallel dimensions existed, but they also had life. He had not expected that life to be so dangerous.

The creature turned its gaze to Dr. Hartmann, and started to advance. The doctor moved backwards, slowly, his palms forward. “There, there now, that’s a good monster. Just stay calm. Everything will be fine.” he tried his best to keep his voice calm and soothing, as if the beast were a rabid dog.

The beast let out an unearthly howl and sprang forward slashing the doctor across the chest. Intense pain shot through him and Hartmann screamed as the claws raked him.

From the other side of the lab, several new voices were chanting and calling. Five young women, dressed in leathers and carrying primitive weapons had emerged through the open portal. The beast was momentarily distracted by the noise.

Dr. Hartmann stumbled away an made it to the door leading out of the lab. The movement and smell of blood reclaimed the beast’s attention and it followed him. He had just opened the door going outside when the beast gored him from behind with its tusks. He let out a scream of anguish as he fell to the ground.

The beast did not have time to savor it’s kill. An arrow from the deft bow of Tyrie pierced its shoulder. Snarling with rage the creature fled through the open door, out into the night.

“Quickly, we must not let it escape.” Thara commanded the hunters.
