Tip o’ the hat to Barry Manilow for the inspiration of today’s subject line. (I’m sorry. I’ll try not to do that again.)
Well, there’s not much you can do to keep a streak going when Mother Nature throws a fit and forces you off the ‘net.
Last night around 6:00 PM I got an alert on my phone saying a heavy thunderstorm with 80 mile per winds were expected in the area. Sure enough, a heavy thunderstorm roamed into the area. We shut everything electronic down and rode the storm out. It was over by 7:00 PM, right in time for our power to go out.
We had to run out to get a few things at the store. As we drove around we went past lots of fallen tree branches and even one tree.
We got back and were faced with sitting around waiting for the power to come back on. We talked of many things, of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings, and why the sea was boiling hot, and whether pigs had wings.
Around 9:00 the power came on for a few moments, then went out again. That electricity is such a tease.
We didn’t have much else to do but go to bed early.
Somewhere around 12:45 AM the power came back on. My wife got up and watched TV and I rolled over and went back to sleep.
I’m trying to get this written early in case of further weather mishaps. I hope you are well, wherever you are, dear reader.
