Today is Memorial Day here in The States. It is a day to remember and honor the fallen warriors who served in the U.S. military.
I appreciate what the military does for us. I’d much prefer a world where we didn’t need them. I keep working toward that world.
All the lives, time, energy, and effort that goes into war could be used to propel society to heights as yet undreamed of. Instead of all the lives lost in conflict, those soldiers could have been fishing, or having a picnic with their family, or creating art, or building cars, or engaging in whatever excited them, and made living worthwhile.
I’m eternally grateful that the military is there to defend us when we need them. The costs of the sacrifice made by these soldiers, throughout history, cannot be measured. The only way I know to honor it is by trying to make the world a better place, a place where those sacrifices don’t need to be made.
Thank you to all our Armed Forces, past and present.
