Since the beginning of the summer I’ve been waiting for one particular shop to open up in town. From the ‘Coming soon’ sign in the window, until a few days ago, I have awaited the opening of a new chocolate shop in town.
They officially opened six days ago but I didn’t get a chance to make it in until today. We had a late start to the day, then swimming, then running around getting some bills paid, then lunch, then shopping, and finally taking Sirocco and Magdalena out for a walk in town so they could get some exercise and socialization.
After all of that, I finally got to go to the chocolate shop. I really shouldn’t be in a chocolate shop. It’s bad for me, and I’m allergic to caffeine, which is in chocolate. But if I’m going to shorten my lifespan, death by chocolate is the way to go.
It’s a quaint little shop. They carry hand-made chocolate candies (of course), fudge and they even have an ice cream bar where you can get a scoop (or two) of old, delicious creamy goodness. They have boxes of assorted chocolates as you come in the front door, and the fudge making counter is on the other side of the aisle. As you go further back they have bags of candies and some specialties. They even have malted milk powder.
The other side of the aisle next to the fudge counter are the display cases of individual candies. At the very back of the store is the ice cream counter.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Since I didn’t see what I was after I asked the girl behind the ice cream counter if they had what I needed. She said she wasn’t familiar with all their flavors but she directed me to another employee who knew them all.
The wife was after something with white chocolate wrapped around some type of chocolate cream center. Unfortunately the shop didn’t have that exact item, but the sales girl helped me choose something else. I ended up getting the wife a sea salt caramel with white chocolate and Himalayan pink salt. I wet with one of my favorite standbys, malted milk balls. The shop is a little pricey and not something I’d be able to visit often, but for a special occasion, or just a ‘I want some really good chocolate’ day, they will be worth the trip.
