I was looking for a different file that had some notes about the three flash fiction tales I couldn’t find when I found the file with the tales. No idea why it didn’t come up in all the searching I was doing yesterday. Go figure.
Now that I found them, I put them in my compilation document of all eleven stories. Rearranged the order and did a first round pass of editing. Overall, I’m mostly happy with the way the stories came out. I feel like two or three of them still require some attention so the stories will get that tomorrow when I do the next editing pass.
My next step is to work on getting the text formatted so I can publish them. Part of that is designing a cover. And a cover means having a good, eye-catching image to grab the attention of a person scrolling by on Amazon or some other distributor and drag them down a dark alley and rob them of the cover price of the book.
To get said eye-catching image I can do one of two things –
1) hire an artist to create the image for me (since I do not have the artistic skills currently to create one on my own)
2) use an AI art generator (like Midjourney, Dall-e, NightCafe, etc.) and try to get it to generate an image for me that comes close to what I have in mind.
I don’t have the funds currently to pay an artist to create an image for me. I suppose I could try Fiverr or Upwork and hope I can find someone to create my vision for the cover for not too much.
I’m fairly certain I know how to get something close using an AI image generator. But I can’t make sure I can get it in the exact dimensions I want, or make any small changes if I don’t like them.
What say you, my Hordeling? Do I wait until I can afford to hire an artist, or roll the dice and try using a AI art generator? Will you lose respect for me if I go the AI generated art route? Leave a comment and let me know.
