After the Universe snuck an extra Monday into my schedule yesterday, today we got to deal with the fallout.
The morning was a bit crazy. I got the dogs out early for their walks, including Magdalena, so we could get an early start to the day. While I walked the dogs the wife called the vet to see if we could get Sirocco in. They had a 12:15 slot open.
As soon as I was done with walking the dogs I called the road service for a tow truck. Got a request submitted and they said the tow truck wouldn’t be by for two and a half hours or so. Okay, that all works. They tow the car to the dealership, we take Sirocco to the vet, and check on the car after we’re done.
Got a quick shower, then I was just starting to eat breakfast when the wife told me that the vet called back and they wanted to see Sirocco A.S.A.P.
Great. Snarfed down the rest of breakfast, left the wife at home in case the tow truck arrived, bundled Sirocco in the car, and drove to the vet. Sat in the exam room waiting for the vet. Sirocco was all wound up, bouncing off the walls, and barking his fool head off. In a small enclosed room, with his bark echoing off the walls, it was loud. Just as the vet came into the room, the road service called back. They needed some more information, which I got for them. Then they said the tow truck would be dispatched and it would be about two hours. At least I didn’t have to rush getting the vet visit done.
Sirocco was checked out and given a clean bill of health. The vet prescribed some pain pills because she thought Sirocco might have some neck pain but she didn’t think it was going to be a problem.
As I got in the car, the road service called again and said the tow truck had been dispatched and was on its way. Had a call from the tow truck driver soon after the road service had called and he said he was on his way. Frantically raced home so the tow truck wouldn’t get here before me.
Got home. Had an update that the tow truck was going to be arriving half an hour after I got back. Took the opportunity to get some work done.
The tow truck arrived around 11:20 A.M. The car got loaded onto the flatbed and driven to the dealership. About ten minutes after they left, the road service called and said the driver would be at the house within 10 minutes. I told them the driver had already come and left a few minutes before they called.
Spent the afternoon working and got a call from the dealership around mid-afternoon. They had checked out the car, and it turned out to be a faulty battery. Whew! At least it was something simple and covered by the warranty. Made arrangements to pick up the car in the morning.
The rest of the day went well. Had an early diner, then went to see The Forge at a special screening arranged by the church.
So, overall, not a bad aftermath of the extra Monday.
