A quick update on my zombie-themed collection.
I’ve gotten the stories formatted for ebook distribution and ready to go. I’m using a handy online program called Atticus to do the formatting. I managed to ‘get in on the ground floor’ when they first launched and got a lifetime subscription. If you’re an author, and you are looking at putting out a lot of books, you might want to look into the program and see if it is worth getting a subscription for yourself. (Note: I’m not affiliated with the program and don’t get anything for recommending them.)
I still need to figure out my ‘blurb’, the short bit of text used to hopefully entice readers to buy the collection. It’s important to get right because the blurb acts as a tiny salesman, getting people to buy your book. If it doesn’t get a reader interested, it isn’t doing it’s job.
Also, I’m stuck on the cover graphics. I’ve heard from some of you that using AI generated art work is not cool. That’s fine and I respect that viewpoint. I’ve taken a very brief look at stock image / art sites to see if I can find anything that might be usable but nothing yet. I’ve just started the search so something may yet turn up. The image I have in my head would have to be done by a human artist or generated by AI. Once I can nail down the graphic, I think I can get the rest of the cover put together.
I’m looking to get this one to market before the Hallowe’en season gets going. Then it is on to doing the same thing with the collection of tales from Cat’s Indie Author Advent Calendar. I had this year’s entry written (and the last one to complete the collection) but it has disappeared from my hard drive. I’m going to try and recreate it tomorrow.
Wish me luck, my Hordeling.
