A strange sense of love

  • by

My wife writes as well, mainly horror.

She recently decided she wanted to get away from horror writing for a while and went through her archives to see what else she had. She decided that she wanted to put together a collection of romantic stories about love.

Okay, fine. I’m generally in favor of a good love story.

After collecting together a umber of stories, she asked me to listen to one of her stories to see how it sounded.

I settle in to listen to her story. She starts reading.

The story starts off with a home invasion, an assault, a death, and continues with an ex-husband dating a malicious woman who torments his daughters, and a kidnapping. We haven’t gotten to the end of the story yet.

Maybe it’s just me, but this doesn’t sound terribly romantic, or about love.

I kissed my wife, looked her in the eye, and said “I love you. This comes from a place of love. Don’t ever put out a book of what you consider romance stories.”

I’ll have to see how the story ends. Maybe she pulls it together.
