And, I’m back

  • by

Well that was a few fun days of travel.

On the upside, the wife and I celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary. We ate out at a nice Italian restaurant where the waitstaff is always top notch. The food is pretty good too. We ate so much that we ended up just going back to our hotel room and vegged out.

Got to see a lot of nice scenery as we drove. The wife took tons of photos, as she usually does, hanging out the car window to get a good shot.

On the downside, Magdalena ran away. Twice. One when we had stopped to look at something. I got the dogs out of the car to stretch their legs, and have a short break from riding in the car. When it was Magdalena’s turn she bolted out of the car before I could grab her leash and went on a merry romp. She wouldn’t come back, except for when she’d run towards me then veer off at the last second so I couldn’t catch her. It wouldn’t have been so bad if she didn’t run into the road while cars were going by. Stupid dog!

The second time she ran away was at one of the hotels. I was trying to get somethin out of the car and into the room when she bolted out of the door and into the parking lot. She kept running around a car, going from one side to the other so I couldn’t get to the same side and catch her. Quite smart, actually, but a pain in the ass trying to get her under control.

The other problem was yesterday. I started feeling nauseous as we were driving to our next hotel. We finally pulled into the town we were staying in and the wife wanted to get lunch. I couldn’t find my Ondansetron (Autobots! Dance off!). It fell out of the bag it was packed in and disappeared into the car somewhere. (I have it back now.) I decided to forgo eating because I wasn’t feeling well and sat in the car with the dogs. As she was eating I started heaving my guts out. We made it to our hotel but I was so sick I was hunched over in the parking lot, feeling frozen, shaking, and unable to stand or do much of anything, having (mostly) drive heaves.

The wife called for an ambulance. The nice EMTs came and gave me a shot (ugh!) of Zofran (the brand name of Odansetron), which kicked in. Felt much better after that. They didn’t think what was happening was life-threatening so I didn’t end up in the hospital. One of the EMTs asked what mediations I was taking. When I told her I was taking metformin, she said she was on it as well, and while her body was adjusting to it she had fits of throwing up too. She said it just took time and I had to wait it out.

Called my doctor to let him know I had another episode. He said he’s revising his thinking and it may not be my medications. He said the CT scan the hospital did while I was in the ER last time showed I have several gall stones. Now he’s thinking it may be gall bladder related and I need to have an assessment done to see if I need to have my gall bladder removed. Now he tells me this?

Anyway, we’re back home. I’ve discovered that my computer will no longer recognize my external hard drive, which is a pain because all my data is on there. I’m sure I’ll get it figured out at some point soon.

How’s your week been going, my Hordeling? Anything interesting going on in your life? If so, leave a comment and let me know.
