Happy Thanksgiving!

  • by

Today, here in the States, we celebrate Thanksgiving. It is a day to reflect on what you have and be full of gratitude for it.

It is also a day of food. Lots of food.

My stated intention for the day was to eat myself into a food coma and get absolutely nothing productive done all day. I must say that I have accomplished this.

We went out to eat. I do feel bad making other people work on a holiday, but the wife and I aren’t up to making a feast for ourselves. Also, we were with my step-daughter, her husband and their daughter, so it was a family gathering on top of being a food pigout.

I managed to down turkey, roast beef, salad, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, mac and cheese, a roll, and a glass of lemonade. I split a piece of chocolate cake with the wife for dessert. In all, a good meal with good company.

After the meal, we came home. I got some shtuff done on the computer, then went to take a nap. I made sure the bedroom door was closed this time. I managed to get an entire hour of sleep before a certain wee dog parked outside the bedroom door and started whining. Still, it was a good nap.

If you’re in the States, my Hordeling, I hope you had a good day filled with family and food. And if you’re not in the States, I hope you had a good day filled with family and food. The world needs more good days filled with family and food. We shouldn’t have to wait for a ‘holiday’ for such things.

And be grateful for the days you have that are like that. We shouldn’t have to wait for a holiday to be grateful either.

Be well, my Hordeling.
