About that 15K Word Month writing thing ….

  • by

So, obviously I didn’t get my 15K word month done last month. Best laid plans and all that.

I did however get ten flash fiction tales written, all around tropes in fantasy table top role-playing games. I will be putting them out for publication at some point in the future. I have several more volumes that I want to write in this series. I’m not sure if I want to put them out as soon as I have them written / edited or wait until I have all the volumes written and then start publishing them, rapid release style.

I have a follow-up idea for a different fantasy series, also flash fiction, that won’t follow the FTTRPG tropes strictly. It will be humorous and possibly some cozy fantasy stories. I’ve not thought out the series yet to see what I want to do beyond the basic idea.

More immediately, I want to get the collection of all the flash fiction tales I’ve written over the years for Cat’s Indie Author Advent Calendar published. I’ve got them collected, now I need to format them and get a cover put together.

Beyond that, I’ve got plenty of other story ideas to keep me going for a while. It’d be great if I were as prolific as the pulp writers back in the day. Walter Gibson, Lester Dent, Frederick Faust – these guys were writing machines, long before word processors and the Internet. They did it all on manual typewriters. From what I understand, Faust had nineteen (19) pen names he wrote under! The most notable one is Zane Grey, which is the name he used to write Westerns. Today, many of his Zane Grey stories are considered classics of the genre.

I just need to keep forging ahead and I’ll get there at some point.
