Continuing on from yesterday –
So, at around 4:15 A.M., instead of Sirocco waking me up, something else woke me up. I’m not sure what exactly, but something. I rolled over and just as I was about to sit up there’s a face staring at me, with a big ol’ grin. A human face. I wasn’t prepared for this and got startled. It turns out the wife was watching me sleep.
I managed to roll over and get back to sleep. We had an early doctor appointment for the wife so I was going to need to be awake no later than 6:00 A.M.
Sirocco came in to get pets but the wife was good enough to be my stand-in and give Sirocco pets until he settled down again. I wonder if he has bad dreams and is coming in to be comforted?
I was dreaming when the alarm went off. I don’t remember what exactly but there was something about Christmas.
Got up, showered and what not, then out the door to the wife’s appointment.
Back home again, then off to get the step-daughter who is helping us clean out the house. She came over and we dove into getting stuff cleaned and sorted.
Then taking the step-daughter back home, then returning home myself to get lunch, just before one of the ladies from the church came over to help. Between all of us, we managed to get the dining room, which had previously been the staging area for a garage sale, cleaned out. A lot of the contents went to a local charity.
I then started hauling things downstairs from the upstairs room being used as a staging area for a garage sale. More of the items from the upstairs room ended up being retained for a sale, but some of it went to the local charity as well.
A nice young man from the charity arrived around 4:00 P.M. and loaded up a truck with the donated items. I felt a big sense of relief as we got the stuff out of the house and into his truck. We actually have some room now. I can continue bringing the items from upstairs downstairs to be sorted out into donate / sell. I have a rule now that nothing goes upstairs if it will be coming back down again. It’s a lot for me to keep running up and down the stairs but I think it is worth it to have fewer reasons to have to keep doing it. The more stuff that comes down means fewer trips upstairs in the future.
I got a short fifteen minute nap in after the guy left with the load of charity items, then off to sort a few more boxes, then make dinner.
We’re getting there, my Hordeling. Today feels like we made progress.
