“What would you like for dinner?” I ask the wife.
“How about meatloaf?” she replies.
“I can do that.”
“But don’t put that ketchup glaze on it.”
“Why not?”
“I don’t like it.”
“Ooookay.”
So, I set about making the meatloaf. I get all the ingredients, mix it all up, and get it set in the baking dish.
The I set about making the glaze, which in my opinion is what makes the meatloaf, meatloaf. It’s simple enough:
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tbsp of brown sugar
1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp yellow mustard
Mix them all together and then spread it on top of the meatloaf. Put it in the oven and let it cook. What comes out is good eatin’.
I made half as much of the glaze as the recipe above calls for, put it on my half of the meatloaf, then cooked it up.
When it finished I plated it then took it to the wife. “Dinner’s ready.” I handed her the plate.
“Thank you. Can I get some ketchup?”
“Why?”
“Because I want to put it on my meatloaf.”
Shaking my head.
