Holly Lisle’s The Moon and Sun series continues!

  • by

A long time go, author Holly Lisle put out the first two books of the Moon and Sun series. The first book, The Ruby Key, introduced Genna and her brother Dan. They live in a world where humans have an uneasy peace with the Nightlings. They find out their uncle is trying to gain immortality, at the cost of human lives. Genna and Dan make an alliance with the Nightling Lord and start off on a journey to find a key.

In the second book, The Silver Door, there is a prophecy of the Sunrider who will unite moon and sun magics and defeat an ancient evil. Genna is chosen as the Sunrider and must learn magic to fulfill the prophecy.

Then due to the Publisher changing their minds, they cancelled the series before the third book was published. Fans of that series were left hanging, never hoping to get a resolution to the story line.

Until now.

Before she passed away last year, Holly was approached by author Cat Gerlach who requested permission to finish off the series. Holly graciously gave her permission. Readers of this blog may recognize Cat Gerlach as the lady who ran the Indie Author Advent Calendar each year, to which I submitted stories for several years.

Cat has taken the story that Holly started and written the conclusion. Instead of a trilogy though, Cat has expanded the story to cover two more books, making it a tetralogy. She has gotten in touch with Joshua Middleton, the artist who created the art for the covers of the first two books. He will be continuing on and doing the art for the new books in the series.

If you’d like to keep up on Cat’s progress, including finding out when she starts the Kickstarter campaign to fund the new books, you can sign up on her email list here:

Were there any great series from your youth that got cancelled too early, my Hordeling? Mine was Firefly. Hit reply and let me know.
