So, after the other day when Magdalena made a royal mess of the house the wife has banned all the dogs from the bedroom. I can’t say as I blame her as the two spots where Magdalena horked are beyond my meager cleaning abilities. They will most likely require a carpet steamer to get out.
At the time it all happened I got up and made Magdalena go outside. I wanted her to get the idea that if she was going to do things like that she needed to do them in the yard, not the house.
Well, last night, around 11:30 PM, not terribly long after I’d gotten to bed, Magdalena was by the bedroom door, whining. This is a new behavior for her. Normally she doesn’t do that. Ever. Whining outside the door is Sirocco’s thing.
I figured that this was something I needed to pay attention to so I rolled out of bed then went to see what was going on.
Magdalena was at the bedroom door and turned as soon I opened the door. She went through the house to the back door. I followed her, as did Major Tom, and opened the back door for her to go out. She ran out, with Major Tom close behind her. I watched her and she squatted to do her business.
Yes, she can be trained!
Well, I don’t know if it was actual training on my part, more likely she figured it out on her own after the events of the other night. Either way, she got me up to let her go outside. This is a Good Thing(tm).
She came in soon after she was done, as did Major Tom. I went back to bed.
The only drawback to this new found power of hers is that she was apparently having stomach problems last night. She got me up five more times over the course of the night. Still, I’d rather she get me up multiple times overnight and do her business outside than having to clean up after her.
