So, Saturday I posted how I upgraded the installation of WordPress on my blog and things went a little wonky.
Technology is great up until the point it stops working. Sometimes I wonder if it might be best to go back to the ‘good old days’ when we had less technology.
Yeah, I know. Silly me. No, I like technology, hiccups and all.
Anyway, after updating I found that I couldn’t add new blog posts to my site. Something in the upgrade made it so I couldn’t see the form for entering a post. It was just a white screen. I couldn’t post to my blog.
I checked the plug-ins and some of them needed updating, but that didn’t help me with making more posts.
Today I was checking the theme I use to handle the look and feel of the blog site and there was an update for it. I went ahead and made the change and loaded the new theme templates on the site.
Huzzah! Now I had the form back and could continue making blog posts. (I’ve since posted Saturday’s missive on the blog, so everything is up-to-date.)
Of course, there was a drawback. I could make posts but I’d lost the list of archives and comments that appear next to the posts.
I had to dig around in the theme customizations and I finally found the settings to put them back where they belong. Technology can be fun and do lots of nifty things, but you have to achieve that precarious balance between it working and not working. I much prefer when it works.

So, all is right again with my little personal media empire. I can broadcast my thoughts into the world and hope maybe someone is listening.
