I’m using Substack, for several reasons. They let me take paying subscribers, they have the platform established already, and as my content grows, they might start recommending it to other audiences, which will help it grow.
Note I said paid subscribers. I’m going to set the first month’s posts to free, so anyone who wants to read them can do so. I’m hoping this will get people hooked on the story enough to want to get a paid subscription.
My ultimate goal is to make enough money with this to pay my monthly bills. If it goes wild and I start making more than that, well, I’m not going to turn it down. 🙂
I’m starting off small. If I can make $100 a month to begin, then I figure there is enough interest in the project to keep it going. If I can’t even get that much, then I can scrap it all and write it off. (I’m hoping that doesn’t happen, of course). At that point I’ll probably go with a different writing project (I’ve got another serial fiction idea to try) or work more on publishing novels and short story collections.
If you do like what I put out over the next month, please consider subscribing. More importantly, if you like it, please recommend it to people you know who might like it. A bigger audience will be beneficial as hopefully more people will subscribe.
Anyway, it is now out there in the world. We’ll see if it flies or not.
