Just another quick post tonight.
I’ve collected together the stories I’m putting in the book I’m hoping to get released by the end of the month. At least, I’m fairly sure I’ve found them all.
I’m starting to get them formatted for publication. Tomorrow I’m going to see if I can work on the title, the title being one of the three pillars that sell a book. The cover, and the blurb copy (the stuff on the back cover of the book you read when you pick it up off the shelves in the bookstore, or on the web sales page) make up the other two pillars. You want a good looking cover and a catchy title, because these are the first two things your readers will see if they are browsing for new books to read.
Once the cover catches their eye, and the title piques their interest, you rely on the blurb to draw them in and convince them to shell out their hard-earned money on your book. Together, these three things are your book’s best salesman.
I’ve got some other things taking up my time too, so getting this book out on time will be a bit of a challenge. We’ll find out at the end of the month whether or not I succeed.
