Back when Heroes (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0813715/) first aired, they had a storyline where a young guy was trying to impress the Cheerleader. It may have been in the comics version, I don’t quite remember. I’ve slept since then.
Anyway, he asked her if she was a robot or an alien. When she asked what the difference was, he said robots never look up.
I think a lot of us are like that. We don’t often look to the distant horizon and dream grand dreams. We tend to focus too much on the day-to-day grind right in front of us. We don’t expand our focus and see the bigger picture. We don’t look up. And we miss things.
Sometimes, all it takes is just a little nudge, a reminder to look up. This happened this morning while I was walking Houdini. He was busy sniffing the ground. He has a large furry mane that blocks any view of what he is doing. I can’t tell if he is sniffing or eating something he shouldn’t be eating.
While trying to discern what Houdini was up to, and trying to see if he was eating something, a woman pulled up next to us, and rolled down her window. She called out to me and said to look up, she didn’t want me to miss it.
I looked up, then thanked her. She drove off. I had a smile on my face for the rest of the walk. I think you can see why.
