My Muse is a wacky little minx. She wants to write a soap opera.
Not a supernatural or superhero story with soap opera elements mixed in. Not some prime time big family drama. Not a corporation tale of business run amok.
No, an honest-to-goodness soap opera, like General Hospital, or Days of Our Lives, or One Life To Live.
I’m not sure why my Muse wants to write a soap opera. But the thing is, you don’t flat outright reject what your Muse hands you. Doing that gets your Muse to shut down and stop working with you. I’m not sure I’m the person to write a soap opera, but if the Muse is keen on the idea, I’m willing to work with her. Always trust the Muse.
She seems gung-ho on this project. She has been handing me characters, and settings, and factions to be in conflict in the setting. I need to start writing all this down so I can keep track of it.
Interestingly enough, when I put this forth to the writing forum I frequent, several people said I should go for it. On the one hand, I find this gratifying for all the votes of confidence. On the other hand, I have to question their sanity, because who am I to write a soap opera?!?!
Anyway, I’ll discuss this with the Muse and see what comes of it.
