I put a new computer on order the other day. It isn’t exactly what I want but it should do the job.
It has a twenty-seven inch diagonal screen, which should be nice and easy to read things on. It has a decent processor and graphics card, 8 GB RAM, a 1TB SSD drive, decent Wi-Fi card, and wireless keyboard and mouse. It also has Windows 11, but you can’t have everything.
This should do well for most of what I do on the computer, most of which is words. Writing, programming, some social media. Book formatting is in there too.
I’m looking into Blender and learning it as part of my drive to become a better artist. I might even learn some animation with it.
I’d like to dabble with creating some games with Godot 4. This is a low priority on the list of projects. I enjoy programming, but there are other things that take priority.
In the meantime, I’m working on getting all my important stuff backed up from the current laptop. There’s nothing worse than transitioning to a new computer and finding out you didn’t transfer that one important document or installer for that one program you always use. That reminds me – I need to make a few database backups.
The heating problem continues, and I must stop several times an hour to fan the laptop to cool it down. I have it elevated off the tabletop so it can get some ventilation, but that doesn’t seem to be making a difference. I’m hoping the laptop lasts long enough until the new machine arrives, which should be in about two weeks.
Now comes the being patient.
