The wife believes we need a new house, one with a bit more space than our current one and preferably a single level as she has some mobility issues and can’t get up and down stairs.
Today we looked at a house that I liked and think would work for us. Most of the house is on one level, so kitchen, three bedrooms, laundry room, dining area, living room all accessible to her. There’s a nice walk-in shower in the master bedroom so she can easily get in and out of that.
There is a single room upstairs which could be used as an office space / study.
And there is a basement area. A HUGE basement area. Part of it could be blocked off and turned into a game room. Or a library. There would still be plenty of room left over for other stuff. There’s even a small workshop area, which would be nice for putting a 3d printer and / or a laser cutter in it.
There is plenty of yard space but we’d have to fence off part of it so the dogs could go outside. There’s a nice little porch area with a swing, and a fire pit in the yard.
On the whole, I liked the house. It isn’t too far away from where we live now that we couldn’t get back in this area for the things we like once a week or so. I think it could work.
Side note: While we were driving to the house there was a tiny deer on the side of the road. I mean tiny. Like not more than a few weeks old. I’m hoping that it doesn’t get hit by a car, as the road it was next to was fairly busy and cars were traveling at high speed.

Can’t argue with single level. How does it look financially?
It would be within our budget. The wife is not enamored of the place so it is unlikely we will pursue it.
