A grab bag of miscellaneous things tonight, my Hordeling.
First off, the wife and I went out to eat this evening. After dinner, I went to get the car while the wife waited on a bench outside. She wanted to be ready when I pulled up with the car and stepped off the four inch high curb into the parking lot. She fell again and hit the right side of her head on the ground. That’s the same side she banged against the side of the house and opened up her skull a little over a week ago. This time she just bumped it, no blood or cuts involved. She also banged up her leg, her arm, and one of her fingers. She didn’t want to go to the hospital and other than bruising I don’t think she was seriously injured.
We raced home because dark storm clouds were gathering overhead. We managed to pull into the driveway as the first raindrops fell. We got home in the nick of time. Just as we got to the back porch it started seriously raining. Got the wife to a chair and some frozen beans to put on her head. She did better after some rest.
Late this afternoon I noticed a spot of blood on Magdalena’s leg. I got her to lie down so I could see her belly. Her incision from the spaying was bleeding a little. We called the Animal Hospital just minutes before they closed to ask them about it. They asked us to send them a photo of the incision, which I did. They texted back a few minutes later and said it didn’t look that bad. We had to clean it with warm water and some gentle soap, then put antibiotic ointment on it. I did all that and we hoped it would promote healing. She kept trying to lick the incision but was prevented by the cone she’s wearing. Glad I had the foresight to get it and use it. I’m hoping we can take it off her in a few days. It’s hard enough getting through the house as it is without being slammed into by the cone as Magdalena tries to charge around you.
We had to go to the property tax office yesterday to pay our tax. You have to go through a security scanner to get into the building. I left almost everything in my pockets in the car and went in. I forgot I had my multi-tool on my belt but I figured I’d just put it in the basket with the other shtuff I had on me. When I put it in the basket, the guard told me I had to take it back to my car. I guess they are deathly afraid I might fix something while paying my taxes.
On the writing front, I wrote the ‘extra’, eleventh zombie flash fiction tale this evening. That’s five days in a row that I’ve written something. I like it. Hopefully this will turn into another 400+ day writing streak.
Until tomorrow, my Hordeling, keep reading.
