I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time today looking for my three missing flash fiction tales.
I know I wrote them. I know what each one was about. I didn’t title any of them, but I remember keywords in each of them I can search for. I have searched for all the keywords I can think of. Nothing.
I’ve looked for files by date. Nada.
I’ve looked for files by file type. Nil.
I expressed my frustrations to my wife. “Are you sure you did it on this computer and not the old one?”
“Yes, I’m certain I did it on the new computer, not my old laptop.”
As I continued searching for the stories with no luck, I decided to try the old laptop. I fired it up and ran all the same searches on it as I did on my new computer.
I would like to be able to say I walked into the other room, gave my wife a big kiss and said “You’re a genius!”, but alas, no luck on the old laptop either.
I guess I’m going to have to bite the bullet and rewrite the stories. I know roughly what was in each one, and I can try to recreate them. The Muse is not happy about this and doesn’t like trying to do that.
If you’d like to support my efforts, why not buy me a chocolate chip cookie through my Ko-Fi page? https://ko-fi.com/jhusum
