I’m in my bed sleeping, when this nose pokes me. I wake up and Magdalena is standing with her paws on the edge of the bed, staring me in the face. I fumble for the clock and see that it’s 1:41 A.M.
“What?” I whisper, not wanting to wake the wife. Magdalena paws at me, then goes to the door. Okay, I figure, she has to go out. I get up and get to the backdoor and open it for her to go out. She goes outside for a few seconds, then comes back in and leans on me. I give her some pets, then head back to bed. She comes with me. I get settled and she goes to her nook. I can’t get back to sleep and lay in bed, staring at the clock. Just after 2:00 A.M. I close my eyes and just get started drifting off to sleep.
Again, a nose pokes me at 2:08 A.M. We repeat the same scenario, but with a few more ins and outs before returning to bed. I look out and she seems to be having problems going potty.
This scenario kept going until around 4:10 A.M. I finally get settled in bed, close my eyes, and drift off to sleep.
Then at around 4:25 A.M. Sirocco starts whining. My eyes pop open and I’m not thinking too kindly of the dogs right then. I get up, thinking now he wants to go out, but no, he just wants attention. I tell him to lie down and go to sleep but he’s insistent. I get up and give him some pets. Magdalena has to come over and get in on the action as well. Then Magdalena goes to the door again. Fine. I get up and let her out.
She goes out, then turns around and comes in again. She does this two more times. On the last trip inside she turns, squats, and has explosive diarrhea. Great.
I try to get her outside but she won’t budge until she’s done. I clean up all the mess, then try to get back in bed. Just as I get in bed, Sirocco starts whining because he can’t jump onto his favorite chair in the living room. He can, but he whines hoping someone will come help him. I get up and push him onto the chair then try to get back to sleep.
Still can’t sleep. Got up a little after 5:00 A.M. to watch some TV.
While I’m watching, the wife gets up and comes out to the living room. I tell her about all the fun I’ve been having all night. Just them Magdalena walks over and vomits next to her chair. Ugh! I clean up that mess too. The wife goes back to bed and I finish my program. Just as it finishes, Magdalena horks again. Seriously?
I get that cleaned up too. I figure I might have to take her to the vet so I look up online what time they opened. I go back to bed and get about twenty minutes sleep before I need to get up and get ready. I eat a quick breakfast and check on Magdalena. She’s sleeping peacefully with no signs of discomfort so I let her sleep. I decide to walk the other dogs. Just as I’m getting ready to start I see that Major Tom has peed on the side of the couch. I guess he didn’t want to get left out of the fun. Cleaned up that mess.
Walked the dogs. As I finished walking Sirocco, Magdalena came running to the door for her turn, acting like nothing was wrong. I took her out and she walked just fine. She peed several times. When we got back she started playing with Sirocco. It was then that I found someone (probably Sirocco) had pooped in the kitchen while I was walking Magdalena. Cleaned up that mess too.
Took a shower. The wife had an appointment so I tried to get a little sleep before we had to leave. As I lay down, the dogs were raising a commotion in the living room, playing. < heavy sigh >
Magdalena seems to have recovered from her nocturnal digestive problems. I’m just hoping we don’t have a repeat of them tonight.
