So. It happened again.
Woke up at around 1:30 A.M. The dogs wanted to go out for a potty break. No big deal. I got up and let them out. Then a wave of nausea hit me. I made it to the bathroom in time.
Got the dogs back in, went back to bed.
More nausea at around 3:45 A.M., and 5:30 A.M., and between 6:30 and 7:00 A.M.
I got in touch with my doctor and scheduled an appointment for 8:00 A.M. At least I was feeling far superior to how I felt when the wife took me to the ER. He suggested taking my blood sugar. We did so and it was at 220. On the high side.
As we were leaving to go to my appointment, Magdalena escaped and ran off. We didn’t have time to run after her and trusted she would come back on her own.
Got to the doctor’s office. The doctor ruled out that I was having appendicitis, or gall bladder problems or pancreatitis. He is still of the opinion that it is something to do with my blood sugars. I’m going to have to go back to sticking myself several times a day and taking my blood sugar. Not happy about that. He also gave me ondansetron to help with the nausea. (Ondansetron – sounds like a Autobot Transformer name.)
I think I may have brought this one upon myself. Looking back over the last few weeks, I was getting sick late Saturday night / early Sunday morning. My one big sugary indulgence is I allow myself to have a Dr. Pepper soda on Fridays with lunch. I didn’t do it last Friday and I was doing fine. So, I ended up having it on Sunday. And thirty-six hours later, I’m heaving my guts out. If all this is tied to my blood sugar levels, this seems to me to be a clear indicator of the problem. Great, one more thing I enjoy in life taken from me.
When we got back home, fortunately Magdalena was sitting on the front porch waiting for us. I guess she knows a good thing when she’s got it.
I spent a good chunk of the day asleep. The wife had a doctor’s appointment in the late afternoon. She has been feeling dizzy and felt the room spin over the last several days. I wasn’t in shape to drive her, and I was concerned about her driving to the doctor’s office. I went along with her to the appointment. I was feeling better but not 100 percent better. I was tired but if I had to drive, I could do so. The wife was doing better this afternoon and now experiencing as much of the dizziness. We took it slow and got there. I took a nap while she was at her appointment. She was doing better after the appointment so she was able to drive home again.
Got home. The dogs had peed and pooped in the house. Ugh!
I’m going to crash. I’m guessing I will be much better after getting more sleep. Sleep is incredibly restorative for me.
Stay well, my Hordeling.
