Troubleshooting – its always something

  • by

The saga continues, my Hordeling.

After the mix-up of ordering a new washer and getting a dryer delivered instead. we had the dryer returned to the warehouse and a new washer put on order.

Once again we were scheduled in the 8:00 AM to noon delivery window. Once again, I got a call just after 8:00 from the driver saying he’d be here in twenty minutes. If nothing else, these guys are punctual.

The delivery driver arrived at the house a short while later. I met him outside as he and his partner unloaded the washer. It was definitely a washer this time, not a dryer.

He asked where the machine was going to be set up and I showed him to the laundry room. He took a look at the connections and shook his head.

“We can’t install the washer.” He pointed at the water valves where the hoses connect the washer to the plumbing. “See how the handles are corroded? Our policy doesn’t let us make connections when it is like that. If they break, and your house floods, we don’t want to be held responsible.”

“What can be done?” I ask. “If we get it fixed can you install the washer then?”

“Yeah, we can do that. Once you get the handles replaced you can call us and we’ll come back to install the new washer and take the old one away.”

“Righty-o. We’ll call a plumber then.”

They left the washer and took off.

After searching for a plumber and getting recommendations from Facebook, we settled on a plumber. I called the guy and told him our situation. He asked me to send him a photo of the connections, then he sent us an estimate a little later. We agreed and set up a time for him to come do the work. Unfortunately he won’t be available until tomorrow afternoon.

As Little Rosanna Danna used to say “Its always something.”
