Bracing for more winter nastiness

  • by

As of tonight, temperatures in the local area will plunge to freezing and below and stay that way until sometime on Saturday.

In addition to that, overnight we are likely to be having forty (40) miles per hour (sixty-four point three (64.3) kilometers per hour) wind gusts and small sized hail.

We had a lot of rain today and the streets are wet so I’m wondering if they will ice over before I get out to walk the dogs in the morning. If they do I’m likely staying inside and hibernating instead of taking the dogs out.

Give me heat. I can handle heat. Yes, it may be uncomfortable, but if you drink a lot of water and stay hydrated you can survive. I function better when there is heat. My hands don’t get cracked and bleeding and painful when it is hot.

When it is cold I’d rather just stay in bed and sleep. Usually though I have way too much to do and must get out of bed and do things. The wife has an appointment tomorrow that will require leaving the house and going out into the cold, cruel world. Ugh!

Bed warm. World cold. Bed wins. (I should make a t-shirt with that on it.)

I can never seem to get warm, even wearing multiple layers of clothes. How did mankind survive the Ice Age? If it had depended on me, the human race would be extinct now.

I’m sure certain small furry people who shall remain Sirocco-less and Major Tom-less will likely get me up bright and early to make sure I’m ready to take them out for the morning walks. Sirocco, after several days of being good, decided I had to get up at just before 5:15 this morning.

Anyway, my Hordeling, the next few days I’m not likely to find pleasant. I’m trying to keep a positive mental attitude about it and get through as best I can. We’ll see how it goes.
