So, I’m driving around and get to an intersection near the freeway. It’s under construction. That’s not really unusual for this area. I can’t remember a time when there wasn’t construction going on when I’ve been driving around.
There are the guys in bright neon vests standing around, at least most of them are standing around. A few of them are working. There are those traffic cones all around meant to keep the drivers from encroaching on the work area.
There’s the requisite police car, also parked in such a way as to keep the drivers from encroaching on the work area. He’s got the lights flashing. I can’t see the officer anywhere but I’m sure he is there.
As I’m waiting for the light to change I’m watching the construction guys if for no other reason than to make sure they aren’t kicking up bits of street that might ding my car or crack the windshield.
I looked back at the police car to see if I could determine if the officer was sitting inside the car. It was then that I noticed something I’ve never seen before.
The police car had a vanity plate.
I was surprised at this. I’ve seen lots of police cars driving around but I’ve never seen one with a vanity plate. I didn’t think that a public servant could have a vanity plate. Isn’t that cost paid by the tax payer’s dollars?
Anyway, the plate read “ALL MEOW”. I’m going to guess that the officer is a cat person. On the one hand, good for them. On the other hand, I’d expect something more … I don’t know what word I’m looking for. Crime related? Punny? Bragging about their prowess at catching bad guys?
What do you think about this, my Hordeling? If you’ve got a better suggestion for a vanity plate on a police car, leave a comment and let me know.
