Falling asleep at the keyboard

  • by

The wife was up all last night. I woke up at various points in the night, usually because she had the TV on and the noise would wake me.

Around 3:00 AM the wife called for me to get up and help her. She tested her blood sugar and it came out at over 600 mg which was higher that her meter would read. I had to get her a new insulin pen and find a head for it. She took the insulin and it did lower her blood sugar but she still couldn’t sleep.

I got up at approximately 6:20 A.M. with the intent of getting some things done. The wife wanted to check her blood sugar again, still not having gotten any sleep. I found her glucose meter and lancet but couldn’t find the test strips anywhere. In the process I found her phone, which was almost dead and needed recharging. I kept searching for the test strips, eventually finding them but misplacing the cellphone in the process.

The wife took her blood sugar and it was significantly lower so she seemed to be out of danger.

Another frantic ten minutes looking for the phone eventually yielded the device. I got it plugged in to charge so we could make sure it was ready to go for a mid-morning teleconference she had.

Made her breakfast, walked the beasts, then headed out to get my step-daughter so she could come over to help clean up the house. Also, our friend from the Church came over to help us continue organizing and getting things out of the house.

Lots of moving, sorting, and getting rid of things.

I managed to get a fifteen (15) minute nap in the afternoon, then out to eat and grocery shopping.

All of this as a long way to say I’m falling asleep at the keyboard as I write this. I’m going to bed and hoping I can get a full night’s sleep tonight.

I hope your sleep is sound, my Hordeling.
