Commerce carries on

  • by

So, the wife has been in the medical care system for several weeks now. It has, understandably I think, consumed a lot of my time and attention. Even so, the world keeps turning, and life goes on.

One of those things that continues is commerce. More specifically, ecommerce. And even more specifically than that, eBay ecommerce.

I have a number of books and a few toys listed on eBay. Now that we’ve moved and things have settled down a little I need to get back to putting some more things up there.

The wife, too, has items listed on eBay. Mainly plush, stuffed animals. I have managed to find most of the boxes with her eBay items, but I don’t think I’ve found all of them just yet.

While I was checking on something else entirely for the wife on her computer I came across a notification that she had sold something on eBay. I went to check her eBay account and discovered that the item had been sold a week before. The buyer had sent a number of messages about the purchased toy. First they wanted to now some more details about the toy. Further messages said they would just go ahead and buy it since they hadn’t heard any responses from the wife. They wanted to know when it would ship. Then they wanted to know if they could cancel the order and found out it was past eBay’s cancellation period. They were ready to pursue other means of getting their money back.

I messaged the buyer, apologizing for the delay. I explained he wife had been in the ICU for several weeks fighting off a bacterial blood infection. I said I’d get the toy in the mail the next day. I found the toy, got it boxed up and took it to the Post Office to send it on its way to its new home. I let the buyer know it was headed their way. They were very understanding and all turned out well.

Today, however, I discovered a second toy has sold. I’ve been through all the boxes of toys I found so far and can’t find the toy that sold. I’ll have to go trough them again tomorrow, and expand my search if I can’t find it. I’m just hoping that this buyer will be as understanding as the previous buyer.

I hope all your life continuances are working out for you, my Hordeling.
