Insurance is not leaving me feeling overly confident

  • by

So, we changed insurance companies when we moved. Not totally unreasonable give the move.

A little over a month ago we signed the papers and put our cars under the new insurance. The agent told us that in about two weeks we should get the proof of insurance cards which we are required to have with us should we get in an accident or get pulled over by a police officer. I don’t need a hefty ticket for not showing proof of insurance.

Two weeks went by and I called to check on the POI cards, which had not arrived. The agent checked something on his computer and said that the cards should be here about the middle of last week. I eagerly kept an eye on the mailbox but no luck.

I called the agent again this morning, as we still haven’t gotten the POI cards. He again checked something on his computer and said the cards should have arrived by now.

Then he said “I can just print them out. I’ll leave them at the front with the receptionist and you can come pick them up.”

He had the ability to print them this entire time and he didn’t think to tell me about it? This is eroding my confidence in the insurance industry. (Not that I had a lot of confidence in the insurance agency to begin with.) If it takes them this long with a simple thing like the POI cards, what are the going to do when we need them, like if we have an accident?

I went over to the insurance agency and picked up the cards from the receptionist. At least now I can stop worrying about driving the cars around.
