And … she’s home

  • by

I’m pleased to announce the wife has returned home to stay. And there was much rejoicing.

I got to the long-term care facility just at 10:00 AM. The wife was asleep but she was soon awakened by her nurse coming in to say once they removed the pic line, brought in her medications, and she signed the paperwork we could leave. Fortunately, this place was NOT like the hospitals and got us out within 15 minutes. I made a trip to take the wife’s stuff to the car while waiting for her release.

Once we left the first thing the wife wanted to do was go shopping. A friend of ours had his appendix rupture and she wanted to get him a card. We went to a little gift shop in the area and shopped, picking up a card along the way.

Then she wanted to go grocery shopping. She picked up some roses, which we delivered to the long-term care facility. She wanted to show her appreciation to the nurse that always went above and beyond trying to get us out on time when the wife left to come home and visit the dogs or go out to eat. (I tried the food at the long-term care facility. At best, it is a step above high school cafeteria food. Going out to eat was a welcome change for the wife.)

When we got home the dogs were excited. I think they were expecting me to take her away again, but they all gathered around her to say hello. I unpacked the car and brought everything in the house as the dogs got reacquainted with the wife.

The rest of the day has been getting her settled back into the house. I did get a nice long nap in this afternoon, so that was good.

I’m happy to have her back, my Hordeling. Life is good.
