We are down to the last of the boxes as we go through the house. We saved the framed pictures for the last.
We had several framed pictures we brought with us. Most of them were portraits of the family, my wife’s previous husband and kids. We had a few paintings the wife did in her youth. And we had several other paintings from other artists.
The problems came when we couldn’t find a painting from a friend of the wife’s. He is an old friend of her’s from way back. I think they met in college. He has always done art. Currently he takes old Barbie dols and makes them into replicas of famous film stars. He’s very good.
The painting we’re missing is one he did. It depicts a woman on a beach at night time. She is near a stone wall rising up from the sea, and the waves are washing up on the beach.
It has enormous sentimental value to the wife. I have to admit I always liked the painting myself.
There is one last flat box in one of the rooms that I can’t get to because of all the boxes in the way. (The wife decided that the things she didn’t want to deal with now got shoved into one room. We went through them and know what is in them, she just doesn’t want to decide where to put it all right now.) I am hoping that the missing painting is in there. If it isn’t, I have no idea where it went to. It means that it disappeared somewhere between Texas and here.
So, here’s hoping it is in that last box, my Hordeling. I know the wife will be much happier if it is.
