Happy Anniversary to The Wife

  • by

It was five years ago today that the wife and I got married. By way of celebration, we went out to get baked goods from the local bakery. It’s the simple joys that make life worth living.

When we got married, it was a few months into the Covid lockdown. We had originally invited sixty (60) people to the wedding (before we knew how strange things would get during that time) and two showed up. The Maid Of Honor called three days before the wedding to say she wasn’t coming.

After the wedding we were supposed to meet the photographer at a local landmark for photos. She got the wrong place and we almost didn’t get the photos, but fortunately she was able to make her way to our location. We got a few good photos out of that.

We had our reception dinner at a little place we frequented. It took four hours, mainly because the place was understaffed and had one waitress covering our section of the restaurant, as well as the bar. Surprisingly, a large number of people were there, considering that the world was in lockdown. Still, we enjoyed the meal and had good companionship with the wedding party.

Since then, it has been a series of ups and downs, medical crises on our anniversaries, and troubles. But there have also been a lot of good times.

After all that, each day is still a new adventure.

Here’s to many more years of married life.

I hope your day has been a good one, my Hordeling.
