“Demonic. Very Demonic.”

  • by

Yep. Yet another post around a religious topic. Maybe not quite what you’d expect. But, if you want to skip this one, I’ll see you tomorrow.

So, the wife and I were out at WalMart (don’t judge me – Small Town America doesn’t have a lot of choices in where you buy things) looking for some curtain rods. Guess what fun things I got to do this afternoon?

But I digress.

We got our items and went to wait in line at the check out counter.

As it so happens, WalMart puts displays of new products near the cash registers in hopes that you will make an impulse buy. It works and people buy things on the spur of the moment. If it didn’t work so well, they wouldn’t do it.

So, there’s this new product siting there. It is kinda eye-catching and is based on a popular media figure. It certainly draws your attention. I could even see it as being a collectible in some circles.

We’re waiting, and the wife is eyeing the candy display (definitely an impulse buy!) and I’m facing backwards talking with the wife.

A guy came up to the display behind us. He’s muttered something about ‘this is what she wants?’ He picked up the box, looked at it, then looked at me.

“Demonic. Very demonic.” I’m not sure what he expected me to respond so I just remained silent. He put it back down and goes on.

We get checked out and head to the car.

So, what was this horrible influence sure to bring down Western civilization?

Kellogg’s Wednesday Cookies and Creme Cereal, complete with a picture of the character Wednesday Addams (of The Addams Family cartoon and TV show fame) as played by Jenna Ortega in the current Wednesday series.

An objectionable flavor choice, in my opinion. but demonic?

It seems to me that if you are going to be afraid of a picture of something you think is against God, then you’d probably be better off staying at home, in bed, under the covers. Especially if that something is a fictional character that has been around for decades.

If nothing else, I think this shows an astonishing lack of faith in God. If you don’t think your God is capable of overcoming a picture of something that doesn’t even exist, well, then I can’t help you.

Maybe this guy would prefer Jesus to be on the cereal box cover. Personally, I’d find that tasteless and tacky at the least, sacrilegious at worst.

Again, I fail to understand people and their religious views.

See you tomorrow, my Hordeling.
