So, we’ve had some nice weather over the last week or two. We’ve had decent temperatures around 50 deg F (10 deg C) and generally sunny days. We had a day or two of winds and a day or two of rain, but otherwise things have been good.
But now, the weather is turning nasty. As I write this, the winds are howling outside. They are blowing around 20 miles per hour (32 kilometers per hour) with no sign that they will slow down much over the next two days.
The temperatures are supposed to drop to around 25 deg F (-3 deg C) overnight tonight, and stay there for the next 48 hours or so. It doesn’t look like there should be much, if any, precipitation so I don’t expect that it will snow. The dogs will have to take care of their own business in the morning as I don’t plan on walking them.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so I have an excuse to not go anywhere. I’ll be able to stay warm in the kitchen as I cook the Thanksgiving meal.
Friday I have to be out in this nasty weather to go take care of some business. No, I’m not hitting Black Friday sales. I have a meeting to go to. It’s in a town about 30 miles (48 kilometers) away so I’m very much hoping for no snow on the ground. The only advantage is the town is south of us and about ten degrees warmer than here.
Being a southern boy I don’t know how to drive in snow. It will be bad enough with the heavy winds, so I don’t need slick roads to deal with at the same time.
Other than that, I’d much prefer to stay in bed and hibernating but I’ve got work to do on the supernatural soap opera and some programing to catch up on. No rest for the wicked, as they say.
Another drawback with the cold weather – my hands are already dried out, cracked and bleeding. And we’re not even at the end of November yet. I’m not sure I’ll make it through the winter. Some of the Northern folk here have said to put copious amounts of lotion on my hands at night, wear gloves, and let them heal. I’m going to have to give it a try. I generally don’t like the feeling of lotion on my hands, nor do I like getting it all over anything I’m working with, like my mouse and keyboard. But, since this will be an overnight thing and I don’t have to handle anything, I’ll give it a try and see if it works.
Wish me luck, my Hordeling. Hopefully I’ll see you on the other side of the freezing weather.
