The Ruby Key Kickstarter announced!

  • by

So, a while back I mentioned that friend and fellow author Cat Gerlach was going to finish off Holly Lisle’s Moon and Sun series.

Well, that dream has gotten one step closer.

Cat has announced the Kickstarter to republish the first book in the series, The Ruby Key. You can find it here – https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/katharinagerlach/holly-lisles-moon-and-sun-1-the-ruby-key

It is not running just yet. It will start on March 24th, but you can get on the list to be notified when it does start. The more people who back it on day one, the greater the chance Kickstarter will promote it to more of their users, and the greater the chance that it funds successfully.

The main point of this Kickstarter, and the one that will follow to publish the second book, The Silver Door, is to be able to raise funds to hire the original cover artist, Joshua Middledon. He created the cover for the original publications of the first two books in the series, and has graciously agreed to do the the covers for the two books Cat will be writing to finish of the story.

It has been a year and a half since Holly passed away. Cat was able to speak with Holly at great length before that happened about the series. Cat is creating her own ending to the story and I’m sure she will not disappoint. Cat is keeping the details of the story tightly under wraps. Heck, she won’t even tell me what’s in store!

But I guess that’s OK. It will make reading the story all the more satisfying when I get to read it myself. I’m just impatient.

If you are a fan of Holy Lisle’s work, or Cat’s work, or good YA literature, please back this campaign. Tell your family and friends to back this campaign. Tell complete strangers to back this campaign. Back it for all those other stories that got started but the got killed because some corporate number cruncher monkeyboy didn’t think it was financially feasible to carry on. (I’m looking at you, Fox Executives who killed Firefly!) They aren’t readers, or fans. They don’t understand that when we find good stories, we want the whole story, as much as we can get. Denying it to us is cruel.

I hope you’ll back the campaign when it launches, my Hordeling.
