For those of you who haven’t been paying attention – Holly Lisle wrote the first two books of a young adult fantasy series, The Moon & Sun. Those books were The Ruby Key and The Silver Door. The publisher decided to pull the plug on the project because they weren’t making enough money. This left all the readers of the series hanging, as Holly didn’t write the third and final volume. She wanted to finish the series but other projects took precedence so that she could continue to make money her own self.
Fast forward to now. Holly passed away a little over a year and a half ago, but before she did, friend and fellow author Cat Gerlach approached Holly about completing the series. Cat and Holly had discussed the project for years and Holly gave Cat her blessing to finish the project. So now the time has come. Cat has written the third book (and possibly the fourth) so she is running a Kickstarter to put the first book back in print. More importantly, she is trying to raise money to commission the artist for the original publications, Joshua Middleton, to create the covers for the third and fourth books.
The project hasn’t funded yet (as of the time of this writing) but with your help it can reach the goal. Yes, it’s just the first day of the campaign but if it gets funded on day one, Kickstarter pushes it out to more people. It’d be great if the cost of both covers for the new books were generated in this campaign alone.
Even if you don’t help fund the campaign, if you have any friend or family that might like it, please share it with them. If you like young adult books, or good fantasy tales, or Holly Lisle’s works, or Cat Gerlach’s works, or any or all of the above, back this campaign. If you have kids, or nieces and nephews, or friends with kids, nieces and nephews, back this campaign and give them the book. Tell your friends, cow-orkers, family members, random people you are standing next to in the checkout line, and even your enemies, to back this campaign.
