Last year, members of the forums at Holly’s Writing Classes put together an anthology based on the Tarot deck. The project was spearheaded by Rebecca, Holly’s daughter. The final product is called Haunted by Tarot and has a story by Your Truly in it. You should pick up a copy, if you haven’t already, not because I have story in it (although that should be reason enough for you) but because all the money made goes to helping keep Holly’s Writing Classes going.
I bring all this up because the HWC forums are at it again this year. The theme for this year is vampires.
I’m already trying to wring vampiric storylines from the Muse for the supernatural soap opera. We went into a side quest trying to figure out a way to tie those stories into a related standalone story that could go into the anthology. Ultimately I dropped that line of thought.
The Muse and I tossed some ideas around, and we came up with an idea for a flash fiction story. Short, scary, with an emotional impact. OK, I thought, this could work. But the Muse wasn’t done yet. She started thinking about the vampire in the story and came up with a sort of character arc, or at least a change for the vampire by the story end.
At this pint I’m not exactly sure where this story is going but then again, most of my stories end up that way. I just go along for the ride and see where the Muse ends up.
We’ll see how it all turns out and if the story gets accepted into this year’s anthology. I’ll keep you posted, my Hordeling.
