Rain, rain ….

  • by

Usually, that ends in ‘go away!” Instead, I say, ‘bring it on!’

Things have been dry in our area for much of the last few months. After the snow and ice melted off, things have been fairly good, weatherwise.

That’s all about to change. Over the next week we’re expected to get rain every day.

We certainly need it. We’ve had burn ban warnings going for several weeks. That not only covers burning leaves, or trash, but outdoor barbecue and firepits. There are tons of trees up here and a little spark could set the whole area on fire. That would not be good.

Also, remember the trees we planted last fall? They’ve not been doing as well with the lack of rain. I’ve been watering them and keeping them alive but they are struggling. The wife had some rhododendrons planted last month and they are definitely struggling.

I was just talking to one of the neighbors about this topic just yesterday morning as I was walking the dogs. He was saying we need a good solid rain lasting four hours or so. Looks like he’s getting his wish and then some. Yes, we need the rain, but maybe not that much. The area has a flooding problem too. It’s a tricky balance.

I am, of course, concerned, about going ziplining tomorrow. The forecast calls for rain in the morning and we’ll be ziplining in the afternoon, so hopefully the rain will have passed by then. They run the zipline tour rain or shine. We might get a little wet but hopefully that won’t detract from the enjoyment. I think the only thin that will stop us is if there are thunderstorms in the area. I cannot conceive that getting struck by lightning while on a zipline would be terribly fun, unless I get superpowers from it, then that would be awesome. I guess we’ll see how it goes.
