Up and at ’em early tomorrow for Major Tom

  • by

We got a notice from the vet that Major Tom is due for his vaccinations. As good pet owners we are going to take him in to get it done. Major Tom won’t be happy about it but them’s the breaks. I won’t be happy about it either, maybe more so than Major Tom.

Why is it going to be such an early time tomorrow? Because the vet here doesn’t do appointments. The wonders of living in Small Town America. It is on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis, unless an emergency case comes in, then they get service first.

I’ve got to be up and out the door early with Major To so we can get in line. Hopefully we’ll get there before the crowd hits. Since it is just vaccinations, we should be in and out in about ten minutes. But if the crowd gets there before us, we could be waiting up to three hours for the vet to see him.

About the only good thing about that is I get time to read. I’ve finished off the first two books in the Dark Tower series by Stephen King and got started on Book Three (The Wastelands) the other day. I calculated it out that I need to read fourteen (14) pages a day to complete it in one month. I’m already a day behind so I’ll need to read twenty-eight (28) pages tomorrow.

Hopefully Major Tom will behave himself around all the other dogs and not try to go all alpha male on them while we’re waiting. He did that at our vet in Houston one time. He got snotty with a golden retriever (who wasn’t doing anything) and tried to prove he was the Top Dog in the office. The staff came, put a muzzle on Major Tom, then put him in a holding cage until it was his turn to see the vet. I don’t know that he learned anything from the experience.

Sidenote: When I booted my computer this morning, everything was back to normal. I guess it went back to my default profile and restored all my stuff. Go figure.

Since I have to be up early tomorrow I’m going to keep this short tonight, my Hordeling. I don’t know if I want reading time or a short visit. We’ll see what the morning brings.
