“We have to water today” said the wife this morning. It was sunny and hot out when she said it.
“There’s rain in the forecast for this afternoon, around one o’clock,” I said. “We don’t have to water today.’
“All the rhododendrons are drying out. They need water.”
“They’ll get it when it rains.”
That was where the discussion stopped. I went about the day working on various things – formatting one of the wife’s books, cleaning up more of the 15 gigs of email, cleaning up after the dog after he peed on the floor.
Lunch time rolled around and the wife reiterated that the plants needed watering.
“It’s going to rain. Besides, you don’t want to do it this early if it is sunny out. It might burn up the plants leaves. Better to do it later in the afternoon.”
I continued Getting Things Done. Still no rain, plenty of sunshine.
Around 4:00 PM I had to concede that it didn’t look like it was going to rain. I went outside to start watering all the plants. It takes a while to do it.
As I got about two thirds (2/3) of the way through the task I noticed that dark clouds were starting to gather overhead. A few minutes later, a strong wind started blowing. I shut off the water, coiled up the hose and stored it away, then went inside.
A few minutes later, the heavens opened up and rain started coming down.
Moral of the story – the weatherman is always right, they just have really bad timing.
I hope your day has gone well for you, my Hordeling.

Sooner or later whatever the weatherman said will happen.
Or, as I sometimes put it, God does not pay any attention to weather forecasts.
