Our new area is being overrun by bunnies – baby bunnies. They are darned cute!
Here’s one of them:

The picture doesn’t quite do it justice. They are much cuter in person.
The biggest problem is that they are on the road to our house. I’m always concerned they are going to run in front of the car as I head toward home. I would feel terrible if I ran one over with the car.
We’ve also got a tribe of groundhogs. The wife called one of them ‘Chunky’ at one point so now we call all of them ‘Chunkies’.
Here’s one of them:

While I think they are both so danged cute, my step-daughter has a different view. The wife told me that my step-daughter caught a rabbit the other day. I texted her about it.
“You picked up a rabbit?”
“Yes, a lil guy. Caught him in my garden eating my strawberries”
“Are you keeping him or rehoming him back into the wild?”
“Probably gonna make him a meat rabbit. Feed him for a month or two then eat him and harvest his fur. It will give me good practice when I live on a homestead.”
“Ah. A hard fate for him.”
“I mean he’s eating like a king. Has all he could want for bedding and safety until then.”
Well, I guess the rabbit gets to live the Life of Riley until his fateful last day. My step-daughter leans more to the Elmer Fudd view on animals. Not saying it is wrong, just different.
What about you, my Hordeling? Where do you stand on the animal front? Leave a comment and let me know.
