As if ticks weren’t bad enough, it turns out our new area has mosquitos!
I was busy most of the day so I didn’t get to watering the plants until this evening. As I was standing outside, water hose in hand, putting water on the rhododendrons, I felt something on my arm so I looked down and a mosquito was sucking my blood out. Nasty, wicked creature! I got plenty of bites as I was outside for quite a while.
I guess in addition to possums we need to import some bats, so they can chow down on the mosquitos.
I thought I’d left all of the little bastards back in Houston. For years I’ve been up here for half the year so I don’t know why they were all over me tonight when they haven’t been before. Maybe I just haven’t been out at night in the summer long enough, or near water, to attract them to me. It could have been worse. I could have eaten a banana. I read a report a long time ago saying mosquitos have a liking for people just eaten a banana. Something about the potassium in the banana attracts the mosquitos.
Beyond that, it has been a fairly quiet day, even though there was a lot of activity. I hope all is going well with you, my Hordeling.
