It has been a rainy day today, but I’m not going to complain as it helped us get shtuff done.
The wife had a doctor’s appointment this morning, and as with nearly everything here, it was in the next town over. I got up, did my morning routines, walked the dogs, then we were off.
The appointment got started later than we expected (doesn’t that always happen with doctors?) and lasted a little longer than expected. While waiting I ordered a pizza from one of the local chain restaurants. We picked it up after the appointment and chowed down on it on the way back to the house. Yeah, I know, probably not safe to eat and drive, but it was thin crust so it was nice and crispy. That kept it from falling apart on me as I ate, which made driving while eating easier.
Back at the house, we got stuff gathered, sorted and some of it tossed in the garbage. Others were moved to their new permanent places and the rest are still to be dealt with. Part of what we went through are the many framed pictures the wife has collected over the years. The wife has more pictures she wants hung but we are running out of wall space. She has something like fifteen pictures and only room for five of them to be placed on the walls. Guess she’s going to have to do some serious evaluation of which pictures she likes best. That, or we’ll need to find a way to glue them to the ceiling.
Since it rained I didn’t have to spend the time watering all the plants and trees. That makes it much easier to get work done around the house. It normally takes me almost two hours to get everything watered. Why not use a sprinkler? Well, we did, but it got all the leaves on the plants wet. As the sun is out, it fried the leaves and injured the plants. I think that it was happened to my Golden Delicious apple tree.
Speaking of trees – I have two apples on my honey crisp apple tree! I wasn’t expecting to get fruit for another few years.

Also, my golden delicious apple tree seems to be making a comeback. I thought it had died completely but I’ve been watering it to see if it might come back. And it has! New growth is starting near the base so I’m hoping it makes a full recovery.

Anyway, we got a lot of things organized at the house. Oh! I forgot to mention that the Filing Cabinet of Dooooom! has been completely gone through. We jettisoned any old records from beyond seven years ago that are no longer necessary. Things have gotten a bit out of order again, but now I can go back and reorganize the remaining files the way they need to be. I’m hoping with much of the crap gone it won’t be as big a deal to just rearrange the folders and put them back in order.
I hope all your projects are producing fruits (see what I did there?), my Hordeling.
