Another trip around the Sun and we find ourselves at the end of the calendar year as I reckon the calendar.
I start my calendar year on August 4, mainly due to events that occurred this date in 1990. The events themselves are not important, only that the result of them was my changing of the calendar to suit my own tastes.
The calendar, the way I reckon it, has twelve months, all with thirty days each. That gives us three hundred and sixty days (360), leaving five (or six in leap years) days leftover to sync up with the rest of the world.
Yesterday, July 30, was the official first day of Festival. I’m getting old / senile and missed it. But I’m correcting that oversight now.
Festival is a week(-ish) long celebration of fun and frivolity. There are no requirements, no protocols that must be observed. Simply have some fun for no reason other than to have fun.
So, my Hordeling, go out and have fun for the next four days! August 4 will be New Year’s Day.
