Sorry about the radio silence yesterday, my Hordeling. Too much to do, not enough time to do it in.
This morning the second crew from the gutter repair place came by. Crew isn’t entirely accurate. It was one guy. But hey, he did all the work, so if he can do it by himself more power to him.
He arrived around 9:00 AM and got to work. He had to clean out several of the gutters. In addition, the tops of some of the drain spouts were clogged so he had to take them apart and clean them out, then reassemble them.
It took him about four hours to clean, repair and install the leaf guards. While he was working on that I started some experiments making building material out of cardboard and wheat paste. I’ve got lots of cardboard from the move and figured I might want to put some of it to good use. If successful, I’m hoping I can make some bookshelves. I also worked on revising my submission to the Holly’s Writing Classes anthology for this year.
We had some rain off and on as the guy was working so I figure we got a test run of the leaf guard as he installed it. The guy finished, packed up and presented his bill. A bit pricey but not too unreasonable.
It was good of the company to get the job done, after dropping the ball on Monday. I felt a little bad about him having to work in the rain but he didn’t complain. It was a light rain too so having to work in it wasn’t too bad. At this point I’m willing to recommend the company. Time will tell how well their gutter system works and if I continue to hold a good opinion of them.
The rest of the afternoon was spent running errands. Running hither, thither and yon, picking things up, dropping things off, and even doing a little shopping.
At least I got to take a nap late in the afternoon.
